Jimmy Fuller has won his third consecutive WV Senior Championship title! 10 players competed in the event, which was held in Saint Albans. Jim had 2 wins and 2 draws and has qualified to represent WV in the 6th Annual John T. Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champions.

49 players competed in the Chess Day Open and Scholastic on October 8, 2022 in Clarksburg. In the open section, John Boylin IV and Elijah Tipton had a perfect 4/4. Nathaniel des Ruisseau had 4/4 in the Scholastic, then entered into the Open section and finished with 2 more wins (and 2 half-point byes). Pushkal Solanki swept the Elementary section with 4/4 (and one draw in the open section).

The WVU Chess Club has resumed in person meetings on Tuesdays at 7pm at the Mountainlair. They are playing in the Side Pocket room, on the bottom floor behind the bowling alley.
John Boylin, Gagana Sadineni, and James Fuller represented WV in the 2022 Barber (Middle School Champions), Rockefeller (Elementary Champions), and Irwin (Senior Champions). Facing very stiff competition from across the US, each represented us well. John finished with 3/6 in the Barber tournament, while Gagana and James each had 2/6 in their events.
