Harrison County Open and Scholastic
34 players competed in the 2020 Harrison County Open and Scholastic. Bob Canary won the open with a perfect 4-0 score. Matthew Ellis won the K-12, Sohan Kukkillaya won the K-8, and Gagana Sadineni won the K-5.

22 players competed in the open section of the 20th Mountaineer Open tournament. David Hines won the event with a 3.5/4 score.

A record crowd was in attendance for the 15th Bridgeport Library tournament on an extremely warm day for January. 28 players competed in the open and under 1000 sections. Ben Good and Robert Canary tied for 1st in the open section with 2.5/3. Connon McCauley won the under 1000 with a perfect 3-0.
6th WV Senior Championship
Markle Butcher and John Roush each finished with 3 points to take the WV Senior Championship title. The event was held Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Clarksburg.

3rd Annual Concord Southern Open
14 players competed in the 3rd Annual Concord Southern Open on November 16, 2019. Mike Baker and Markle Butcher shared first place with a score of 3.5/4.
81st WV State Championship
Sam Timmons won his third consecutive state championship, while Mike Baker joined him as co-champion (his first). Pratik Shriwas of Ohio was 1/2 point ahead of them and took the first place prize.
2019 WV Junior Championship
John Boylin IV won the 2019 WV Junior Championship with a perfect 4-0 score.

26th Parkersburg Homecoming
On August 18, 2019, the 26th Annual Parkersburg Homecoming Chess Tournament was held in Parkersburg, WV. Twenty-eight players from WV, OH, PA, and NY, with ratings of all levels from beginner through master and all ages including children and seniors, gathered for 9 hours at the Blennerhassett Hotel to compete in 4 rounds of chess competition. The tournament was directed by United States Chess Federation Senior Director Bob Greer, Assistant Tournament Director/Organizer Patrick Kelly, and Assistant Tournament Director, Matthew Ellis.
